Sustainability at Colina Secreta

Nature, community, and future generations

Protecting Wildlife Corridors

We’re proud to be Platinum Guarumo-certified by the Sloth Conservation Foundation. Why? Because we believe the jungle is not just our neighbor — it’s our teacher.

We’ve planted 147 native trees to create safe passageways for wildlife.

We built canopy bridges so sloths, monkeys, and birds can travel above the ground.

Even our dog, Sakura, was trained to live in harmony with the local fauna.

Less waste, more care

We’ve eliminated single-use plastics and embraced reusable, durable alternatives: stainless steel straws, recycled glass bottles, bamboo utensils. Even our shampoos come in refillable bottles — never in disposable plastic. We reuse, reduce, and always refuse what harms the planet.

Join the mission

We partner with organizations like Plastic Pollution Coalition, The Last Plastic Straw, and Connected Gardens, and we invite our guests to take part too — whether it’s by joining a beach clean-up or simply saying “no” to plastic.

Regenerating the jungle

Thanks to our partnership with the Sloth Conservation Foundation, we’ve planted over 140 native trees — including almendros, essential for the endangered green macaw. We’ve installed canopy bridges to help sloths and wildlife move safely above the ground, and even trained our dog Sakura to respect their space.

Back to the Sea

Did you know dead coral and broken shells provide refuge for marine life and help form beaches? Many travelers don’t. That’s why we created our Back to the Sea program — an opportunity for guests to return what belongs to nature and learn how small gestures can have big impact.
